(5,6)-FAM diacetate NHS ester is a cell-permeable amine-reactive label for biomolecules.

This molecule is non-fluorescent until the acetate groups are cleaved by intracellular esterases resulting in the formation of a highly fluorescent fluorophore with emission in the green spectrum range (absorption maximum at ~492 nm, emission maximum at ~517 nm). Due to this characteristic, this product is used for tracking cells and flow cytometric evaluations and studying intracellular esterase.
